According to the plan of Education management component of IPD-GBAO12 days
training of trainers' course on 'School improvement and planning' will be
conducted from 1 to 15 of March 2006 in IPD hall. The course will involve the
representatives of District education departments (DEDs) and school
administrators of GBAO districts and Khorog town. The topics of the course will
be on actual issues in school improvement in modern society and reflect one
direction of reform of education sector in Tajikistan.
After the completion of the course and with direct methodological assistance and
financial support from methodologists of ECM, trained trainers will conduct
short-term seminars for all school administrators and heads of parent committees
in GBAO districts and Khorog town

The Secondary department of IPD-GBAO finalized the
selection of Key teachers from among the best teachers of schools in GBAO
districts.
The best teachers were selected as Key teachers in agreement with the District
education departments. Teachers' lessons were observed in order to capture with
the work capability and skills of potential candidates, their ability to learn
and expand advanced practices and their skills to cascade gained insights to
other colleagues.
In order to improve the training qualifications of selected teachers,
professional development courses will begin for Key teachers of mathematics,
geography and physics in February. By the end of the year all selected teachers
will go through courses and seminars and acquire trainers' qualifications

3-days seminar on Health education (HE) was conducted for
Khorog class teachers of schools # 3,5,8,9 and 10. A total of 19 class teachers
participated in the seminar.
The aims of the seminar are:
To train Khorog class
teachers on content of HE books.
Encouraging teachers to
involve parents/community in HE by inviting them to HE lessons and events.
To help teachers with
suggested methodology and necessary HE materials

Prenatal care and hygiene for
newborns
Safe environment for young children
and newborns
Personal hygiene
Danger of drug addiction and
alcohol
Child to child and Six steps
approach
Child centered methodology
Usage of HE visual aids.

Primary department of IPD-GBAO has begun delivery of 15
days courses for teachers of primary grades in schools of Roshtqala district.
The course will cover topics as suggested by teachers. Particularly, the
trainers will focus on such areas that facilitate the improvement of quality of
education, development of critical thinking and creativity of students and their
independence.
