Mentoring Program for whole school improvement
Introduction
Educational Management Component - IPD provides training for the school
principals and teachers on Mentoring. The Program provides support to teachers
and school leaders as they seek to implement new ideas imbibed during the
trainings, encourages teachers and school leaders to become reflective
practitioners of their own practices and monitor school progress and collect
data. Mentors will undertake the following activities: Teaching Learning and
Standards, Observe a lesson and assess the quality of teaching, learning and
standards, provide constrictive feedback and peer coaching, demonstrate lesson
where possible of or if there is a need, support Key Teachers in implementing
their plans for Methodological Training Day and work with primary teachers to
create and use resources. They also support management and administration in
reviewing school Action Plan and support Parents Comities to review a "Parents
Day" in the school.

Duration of the training
Mentors receive two days seminar on different aspects of mentoring such as 'Mentoring
and peer coaching'; 'Whole School Improvement' and 'School Documentation',
10 days visits to the schools and providing mentoring support.

The training is designed for strong teachers, who really are interested in whole
improvement of the school.
