Centre for the blind children opens in Khorog
A centre for saving the disabled blind children opened under the auspices of the society for the blind of Khorog. In the words of the head of the society, Juma Qurbonmamadov, the centre opened through the financial assistance from the National socio-investment fund of Tajikistan. At the moment, the blind children of Khorog town will be studying in the centre. The lessons will be conducted in the 'Noor' centre for the disabled. The programme of the project includes lessons on computer technology, English language, music and singing.
According to the interlocutor, this is the first project of its kind established for the blind children of the region since 1990. Until 2004, continued he, our society almost stopped functioning. In 2004 through the assistance from the republican society of the blind, the departments of social protection of the region and Khorog town, we could revitalize the activity of the society. With the help of local authorities and international organizations we provided numerous material supports to the disabled blind children. Today there are 200 blind and semi-blind children registered with our society, concluded the interlocutor.
